Snacking at Night

Some nights I just fail at not eating. It will be like 10pm and all I can think about is snacking. It's a time of night when all there is to do is homework, and I like to use food to motivate me to get work done. I really need to get out of that mindset, but I don't know how.

  1. I have that same problem. I have resorted to drinking lots of water, and just trying to not snack after 10:30pm. Going to bed early would probably help too, but let's be realistic, that isn't going to happen.
Here are some (not so fattening) late night snacks I've been having:
Apples with a dash of salt. (It sounds weird but tastes good)
    Banana
Quaker Oats Chocolate Mini Rice Cakes (sooo good! They have chocolate chips in them!)
Skinny Cow Fudge Bar (just one)
Garlic Cheese Bread (the one I told you about last night)
    A pickle
    4 green olives
5 cups of fat free popcorn
1 cup of Special K cereal with Red Berries, with 1/2 cup fat free milk (or in my case light Silk)

If you feel guilty about snacking, or you know that you are going to snack, why not plan out the snack earlier in the day, when you aren't in a super crave mood, and then you can make sure it's something not dangerously unhealthy and you can look forward to it. Make it a reward, like, if you get a certain amount of homework done, or an evening workout done, you can have this snack. Also, try walking while you are eating the snack. This way you are being active and also, maybe the idea of walking late at night will make you want the snack less. (I keep my Skinny Cow ice cream bars in the basement, where I have to walk down two sets of stairs and past the exercise bike before I can have one)

Okay, I'm done blogging about your blog! hehe, hope some of this was helpful!

  2. Yes, very helpful! Thanks! I like the idea of planning out a snack ahead of time. I usually just end up just eating everything I see!
